Hi! I am glad you made it here. Once again, I am Olawale, and I drafted this guide to help you scale your Shopify business growth. Below is an explanation of what a sales funnel is and how you can leverage it to grow your e-commerce business.

A sales funnel is a series of procedures that guide a customer’s journey on an e-commerce website, from the moment they reach a website to the point of sale.

Why Is a Sales Funnel Important for an E-commerce Website?

When an e-commerce website lacks a sales funnel, there is a chance that the website will miss out on customer retention. Customers visit the site, browse around, and then leave without making a purchase.

This could be detrimental to your business because you need to generate sales as soon as possible to prevent spending money on website maintenance and incurring charges if you are running a paid advertising campaign for your website, such as Facebook Ads, Pinterest Ads, or Google Ads.

To avoid this, you need to set up an effective funnel to customize your audience’s journey on your website.

Steps to Set Up an Effective Sales Funnel

Abandoned Cart Notification

The first and the most important step is to set up an Abandoned Cart Notification. That’s right, “Abandoned.”

Consider this scenario: My name is Wale, and I wanted to buy a pair of joggers for my workout session. I visited your store, found my choice, added it to the cart, and proceeded to checkout. Unfortunately, my card was declined, and I had to contact my bank to resolve the issue. My bank couldn’t fix it immediately, so I had to wait for a couple of days. Eventually, I got my card fixed for online transactions. As I was about to go back online to purchase my joggers from your store, I received an email from Mark & Co Wears about a pair of joggers I had viewed on their website a month ago, along with a coupon code that offers better savings than the one I am about to use on your website.

Right there, I felt a new sense of connection. First, with the product, and also with the realization that Mark & Co Wears could reach me via my email. “They have me in mind.”

The incumbent store lost, and Mark & Co Wears won because of one email — one action that showed they recognized me as a customer and knew my preferences.

Discounts

The next approach is the Coupon system. If you haven’t set up a coupon code for your store yet, now is the right time to do so. We are rapidly approaching the holidays, and you may want to offer your customers seasonal benefits to celebrate a great year together.

Customer Appreciation (Thank You Page)

As the saying goes, ‘Give thanks for all that is good.’ The way you treat your customers after the sale makes a huge difference in whether they will come back or not. Set up a great after-sales page to show appreciation to your customers for making a purchase on your store

Conclusion

With these in place, you are on your way to revolutionizing your e-commerce business. Not only will you have returning customers, but you will also make sales consistently.
